It is with tremendous honor and duty that on April 29th the American Cancer Society will be hosting its 4th annual Cincinnati Discovery Ball in honor of Dr. Koss and her invaluable sacrifice in the fight against cancer. As many of you have followed Dr. Koss's journey, you know that she delayed her lifesaving treatment so that research could be done on her tumor at its rarest form. A tremendous sacrifice, both for her and her family. After two and a half long and very difficult, years, Dr. Koss lost her battle this past September, just shy of turning 60 years old.
As we honor Dr. Koss' courageous journey and sacrifice, we would like to continue her legacy by supporting the fight against cancer through the American Cancer Society. The Society has led the fight against cancer, serving as the largest not-for-profit funder in cancer research. Funds raised through the gala support the Society's mission to save lives by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. By supporting events like the Cincinnati Discovery Ball, you can help finish the fight against cancer.
We hope you will consider joining us at this year's event as we honor Dr. Koss and continue to fight against cancer in her memory.
For more than a 100 years, The American Cancer Society has been leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, we have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating our research findings into action, we've seen a 23% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s. Join us to help finish the fight.
