Please join us at the Cincinnati Golf Classic on Monday, August 27th as we celebrate
Mike Schlotman, the 2018 Honoree.
Mike has been a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society through the annual
Cincinnati Golf Classic and has also ridden in the Pan Ohio Hope Ride in 2012. Mike
rode the entire 320 miles between Cleveland and Cincinnati, and personally raised over
$55,000 for the American Cancer Society.
“Cancer is never easy or simple, and frankly sucks! Just saying or hearing the word sucks!”
While Mike has not personally had cancer, his family has been affected by it - from
losing his assistant at Kroger to breast cancer; to his wife waking him up one Christmas
Eve to inform him “the doctor just called and said I have uterine cancer”; to finding out
after he signed up for the ride in 2012 that his brother’s wife had bladder cancer and
having her succumb before he hopped on his bike that July; to both of his wife’s sisters
being diagnosed with cancer, one with breast cancer (twice) and one with advanced
melanoma (twice)…fortunately they are both still with us.
For all the survivors, caregivers, lost loved ones and the wonderful healthcare professionals
treating and working to find a cure, please join us in making this year’s event the
most successful ever.
For more than a 100 years, The American Cancer Society has been leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, we have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating our research findings into action, we've seen a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s. Join us to help finish the fight.
